XDA Developers wrote about JellyBox
This week XDA Developers published “I turned Jellyfin into the Spotify alternative I’ve always wanted with this app”, and the app in the title is JellyBox. Brian Burgess walks through setting it up against his own Jellyfin server, running it across his devices, and why he would rather own his music player than rent one.
JellyBox is a one-person, evenings-and-weekends project. Seeing someone outside the Jellyfin community pick it up, use it the way it was meant to be used, and write about it for a large audience is a genuinely big deal for me. Thank you, Brian, and thank you to XDA for the coverage.
To everyone arriving from the article
Welcome. A few things worth knowing:
- JellyBox is free and open source under AGPL-3.0. The source is on GitHub, and every download on the front page is built from it.
- It now works with Emby and Navidrome servers as well as Jellyfin.
- If something does not work the way the article describes on your setup, open an issue. Bug reports from new users are the fastest way the app gets better.
- Questions, feature ideas, or just want to say hi? Join the JellyBox Discord.
And if JellyBox has earned a place on your devices, a sponsorship or a coffee goes a long way toward keeping it going.
